JVC developed critical technologies that set them apart: the parallel loading mechanism, which pulled the tape into an M shape and two loading poles, instead of the common U-format with one loading pole, which made the compact size of the VHS format possible the DL-FM system and the PS color process (which eliminated crosstalk) were also important technologies that set JVC’s VHS format apart.
